The Healing of Tobit

Healing-of-Tobit1by Ric Kasini Kadour

There is no better example of the secrets UVM can surprise you with than the small copper and steel mesh relief by Roy Kennedy, a professor at St. Michael’s College and lifelong member of the Northern Vermont Artist Association. Located in the Hoehl Gallery on the first floor of the Health Science Research Facility, The Healing of Tobit recalls a story from the Septuagint. Tobit was a righteous man who became blind when bird poop fell into his eyes. The angel Raphael helps Tobit’s son Tobias heal his father’s blindness using the gall bladder of a fish that tried to swallow his foot.
