First Friday Art Walk is a community event that takes place the first Friday of each month throughout the city of Burlington. The event is free and open to anyone. Over 40 venues stay open between 5PM and 8PM for the Art Walk. Some venues have openings, talks, music, or other special activities. Others are simply open late. First Friday Art Walk is sponsored by Bluebird Tavern/Bluebird Barbecue, Main Street Landing, Fleming Museum of Art, and Kasini House.

The First Friday Art Walk was started in the late 1990s by a group of local artists and curators who came together with a desire to create a gathering or “happening” where they could share their works with each other and the city in a new and exciting way..
