First Friday Art Walk is a community event that takes place the first Friday of each month throughout the city of Burlington. The event is free and open to anyone. Over 40 venues stay open between 5PM and 8PM for the Art Walk. Some venues have openings, talks, music, or other special activities. Others are simply open late. Art Map Burlington is the official publication of First Friday Art Walk and guide to venues. Look for venues marked with a * in the listings section of the printed publication.

There are 39 venues that are staying open late for May’s First Friday Art Walk, ready to welcome you. Twenty of these venues are having events, but all of the venues have art worth checking out. Look for venues marked with a * in the listings section of the printed publication.

History of First Friday Art Walk
The First Friday Art Walk was started in the late 1990s by a group of local artists and curators who came together with a desire to create a gathering or “happening” where they could share their works with each other and the city in a new and exciting way..
