2009 Call to Artists

Each year, Kasini House, the producers of Burlington's First Friday Art Walk, commissions a limited edition print from a Vermont artist to commemorate First Friday Art Walk and Burlington’s art community. The image of the print is used as the First Friday Art Walk poster for the season. An original print is on display at Kasini House Gallery at 64 North Street in Burlington. An edition of thirty original prints is available for purchase.

To select the artist who will make the 2009 print, Kasini House invites artists with a connection to Burlington to submit themselves for consideration. We are not looking for completed concepts, rather an artist who we will work with in the commission of the print.

We are open to any media that can be created in an edition of thirty. This includes: silkscreen, etching, photography, etc. Painting or monoprinting will not be considered. We are interested in an artist with a history of professionalism, techinical skill, and a well-developed conceptual approach to art making.

PROCESS
Keep in mind, we are selecting an artist to work with, not a print or a concept. We review submissions as they are submitted and accept submissions until we identify an artist. There is no deadline, however it is in your best interest to submit information sooner rather than later.

Once we identify an artist, we negotiate the details of the commission, payment structure, and contract.

HOW TO APPLY
To be considered, artists are asked to submit the following for review:

• 5-7 digital images (CD preferred)
• Complete Artist Resume
• Supporting Materials (as available)
• Artist Statement
• Articles or Reviews
• Catalog
• Cover letter that addresses the following points:
  • Artist Contact Information (address, phone, email, website, etc.)
  • Description of the medium the artist would like to use to create print.
  • What is the largest print run you have successfully completed?
  • Do you have access to materials and workspace needed to complete the print?
  • What is your connection to Burlington, Vermont’s art community
